BALLPARKWhat’s becoming on of our favorite events of the year, the Ballpark Festival of Beers at The Joe Reilly Stadium is a beer lover’s dream. With over 100 beers on tap, this years festival sold; which explained the longer wait for the craft brews.

In between sips, we danced to a great live band playing top 40 hits and watched as several beer enthusiast hop on only to fall off the mechanic bull.

There was a good mixture of local, regional and imported beer, enough variety to challenge the most avid of beer collectors. Our favorite beer of the day – the Shocktop Pretzel Wheat. The brand known for their awarding winning wheat beer served their seasonal blend in a chocolate coated pretzel cone! What a treat!

On an unusually busy Sunday afternoon, Blossom Restaurant on The Market hosted a six course meal paired with cold summer brews. The head chef at Blossom worked closely with Andrew Maxson of Brooklyn Brews to comprise a menu that represented southern comfort food elevated. The first course introduced us to a zesty Green Market Wheat beer and light flavorful bite of yellowfin tuna. Our favorite courses of the evening included batter fried chicken and waffles topped with Bourbon maple syrup, powdered sugar and local strawberries enjoyed alongside the “I wanna Rye It” blend from Brooklyn Brews.

Deluge Charleston

DELUGE

So how we managed to stay dry during the Deluge Charleston family fun day in the sun at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant. Water slides, water cannons and water pistols were available to splash and spray friends and strangers alike. The talented djs with Clubbullies Entertainment  provided tunes that almost made you forget how hot it was! In our shaded spot near Holy City Popcorn, we chatted briefly with Chef Fisco of Caribbean Creole food truck about the success of the event.
